Costa Rica recently enacted Law No. 10535 to harmonize the legal framework for arbitration in the country. This law amends the existing rules to provide a harmonized and modern legal framework, moving away from the dualistic system that still prevails in other Latin American countries. The new law is based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on Arbitration. Our partner Alberto Fernández López spoke about the new law in a panel discussion organized by the Costa Rican Bar Association on October 18th.
