Law # 10729 published last Friday in the official bulletin “La Gaceta” amends the Commercial Code of Costa Rica, establishing that the only corporate name authorized for corporations and limited liability companies will be the legal ID number automatically assigned by the Commercial Registry. New companies wishing to have a distinctive corporate name will have to register it as a trade name in the Intellectual Property Registry.
