Our partner, Alan Thompson, served yesterday as moderator in a panel on the achievements and challenges of Costa Rica’s competition authorities, featuring Maryleana Méndez, Secretary General of ASIET; David Solano, competition law specialist; Cynthia Arias, member of SUTEL’s Board; and Isaura Guillén, Head of COPROCOM’s Procedures Unit. The panel was part of the “Competition Day” forum, organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Competition (COPROCOM) and the Telecommunications Superintendence (SUTEL), which also included a lecture by Professor Massimo Motta on abuse of dominance in digital markets and a second panel on merger control. Amid the different perspectives, there was consensus on the need to intensify efforts to promote awareness of competition regulations and strengthen the competition culture in the country.
